March Beauty Box

There are many subscription boxes out there and though I have been tempted by some, I never signed up to one. I wasn’t interested in the endless foil samples and unwearable colour shades up until Beauty Review’s Beauty Box. I missed out on the last Beauty Box so when the opportunity came up to get the March Box, I made sure I got one.

The thing I love about Beauty Review’s Beauty Box is instead of getting samples, you get at least 6 full-sized products that are readily available and in stock. The box costs $55 incl. shipping and the value is said to be worth over $236.

The March Beauty Box came in this pretty packaging. I was really happy when this arrived in my doorstep.

Everything was packaged well and inside the box were 13 items. 12 of which are full-sized products that you can get in stores.

  13. Shisheido Glow Enhancing Primer 10ml deluxe sample

The total of all the products excluding the deluxe sample is $245.13. The box only costed $55 so you do get your money’s worth.

I’ve actually used some of the products and here are my thoughts:

IMG_1226aaThis Billion Dollar Brows Brow Pencil is really good. I love trying new brow products and this is great. I like how they gave me a good colour match. This is easy to use and the brush at the end is a good size.

makeup cosmetics blush eyeshadow
I’ve been using the Za blush in Glowing Pink and it is also another great every day product. It has a bit of shimmer but not over the top. Some say it’s even close to Nars Orgasm. I have Nars Orgasm and this is bit pinker. I love it though. As for the Rimmel eyeshadow quad, I haven’t tried it yet but I like how the colours are neutral and they’r the colours I’d use if I wear eyeshadow.

rexona deodorant beautyboxI was actually really happy this was included in the box. Why? Because this is a great deodorant and I just ran out of it. I love the Rexona Clinical Protection range. This has been tried and tested by me.

skinfood skincare beautyboxThe box said there were 3 Skinfood products and we’d get one of them. I got the exfoliating scrub but the other options were the Mud Masque and Cleans All cleanser. I’m glad I got the exfoliator because I’m out of face scrub and I already have the Mud Masque that everyone raves about. It’s a good face mask too. This scrub looks like the St Ives one but it does the job and I love the exfoliating beads.

trilogy skincare beautyboxI’ve always wanted to try Trilogy products but they’re not exactly cheap. So when I saw this product in the box, I knew I already got my money’s worth. This is $50. I’ve tried it this morning and the only thing I have an issue with is the smell. This has orange flower and I don’t like the citrusy smell as much. It reminds me of furniture polish like Pledge but I like how it has rosehip oil. I’m going to continue using it during the day as it might work better than my current Clinique moisturiser since I use actual Rosehip Seed Oil on my face at night.

vaseline lotion beautybox
This does what it says. It is absorbs really quickly and it is non-greasy. It’s great and I will love this in summer time when I hate the sticky feeling of lotion. I’ll still use it in winter but it is cold when you spray it on the skin. It will be more refreshing in hot weather.

za eyeliner makeup beautyboxI don’t wear eyeliner very much but I have tried quite a few liquid eyeliners and I have to say, this Za one is so easy to use! It glides on beautifully and it stays put. I could achieve a winged eyeliner look using this in a few minutes so I highly recommend this. I’m impressed.

lipstick makeup beautyboxI haven’t tried the primer yet but Shisheido is a pretty good brand so I have high hopes for it. The Max Factor lipstick in English Rose however, is my least favourite product in the box. I am a lipstick lover and this is completely not my shade. it is too light for me and it has a frosty finish which I highly dislike in a lipstick. It is pigmented though and it wasn’t too drying on my lips but I wish it was a different shade.

The last thing on my box that I haven’t tried is the Moisture Mist Mascara which I have heard good things about but I have around 8 other mascaras and I don’t need to open one. The other remaining two are hair products which I also like. The teasing brush gives my hair volume and the bobby spinners actually hold my hair up.

For my first ever Beauty Box, I am highly impressed with the products that I got and I received way more than I paid for making it well worth it. I recommend it if you love trying new products and I am looking forward to the next one.

If you’re interested in scoring the next Beauty Box, you have to register on Beauty Review which is free and you will be able to purchase the box when it becomes available. For the price, I don’t think you’d be disappointed.

I love the idea of beauty boxes, but I stopped subscribing to other ones (and won’t be subscribing to this one) because the products seem so hit and miss – even when you fill out the requisite surveys to make sure they give you things that suit your tastes/skin tone etc. I do love that there are some great NZ products in here though. Wish someone did a cruelty free beauty box…

I agree and I haven’t subscribed to others. I like this because it’s not a subscription and you just buy the box when it comes out. As long as you’re registered to Beauty Review, I think you’ll get an email before it comes out which is how I found out and I had to be quick because the boxes sold out quickly too. This was my first ever ‘subcription’ box and I was satisfied with it because they weren’t samples. Yeah the lipstick was a miss for me though I’m pretty sure I answered I love red lipstick in the survey. I would love to have a cruelty free box because I need to be more aware of cruelty-free products. I know I should get better at that.
