I’ve missed a couple of #BlogGreatness posts but I’m back this week with the theme Neutral. I thought I’d share these two W7 eyeshadow palettes in this post as they’re a perfect fit.
I don’t wear eyeshadows very much. I used to be quite anti-eyeshadows but only because I could never make it work on my eyes. However, something drew me to these two palettes and I bought them.
If you want to know more about these palettes and see some swatches, click below.
These are the W7 Natural Nudes palettes. I got them in In The Nude and In The Buff. They both come in a tin packaging which is quite light. I’m sure you would’ve heard of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes and these are the dupes. From looking at a few blog reviews, In The Buff seems like a dupe for the UD Naked 2 Palette.
The layout of the eyeshadows are similar to the Urban Decay ones except the names are not inside but on the bottom of the tin packaging.
I don’t own any Urban Decay makeup and since I rarely wear eyeshadow, I don’t see myself getting the Naked palettes any time soon. I’ve started to wear more eyeshadows but only for events or parties. Definitely not for every day and I am still learning on how to apply them on my eyes. I love playing around with this palette though! I think they both have a good range of shades.
Starting of with the In The Nude palette, it comes in an embossed tin. I’ve read a few people complain about the packaging of these palettes as they broke easily but mine are still good.
Here is a closeup of the shades. I’ve used this more than the other palette for some reason and I think it’s because it has slightly lighter shades and has more pink nude tones.
The shades in this palette are more nude as the name suggests and I really like them. I’ve used this palette on this makeup look and I loved it on me.
The next one is the In The Buff palette. This one has less detailing on the tin but still very similar to the In The Nude.
As you can see, this palette has less pink shades but more browns and greys. I think this will be better for a smokey eye look. Although I haven’t used this palette much, I do like the shades here. I just tend to gravitate more on the In The Nude palette.
Now onto some swatches. I am not an expert on eyeshadows and I’ve only just started including them on my makeup looks so I was inexperienced with swatching eyeshadow shades. I struggled doing it myself and I knew I couldn’t fit all shades into one arm. I don’t know how other beauty bloggers do an arm swatch but mine didn’t turn out well so I opted to share 4 of my favourite shades in each palette.
From top to bottom, these shades from this In The Nude palette are: Fashionista, Coffee Cup, Copper Pot, Angel.
What I found on this palette is that the lighter the shade, the less pigmented it is.
My top 4 favourite shades in this In The Buff palette are: Thunder, Storm, Topaz, Dust.
This palette definitely has less pink tones and more grey and copper tones. It is darker than In The Nude but it also has a mixture of shimmery and matte shades. I feel like because the shades are darker in this palette that they’re more pigmented. I did use this palette last night for an engagement party and they stayed on well and blended easily.
For an eyeshadow beginner like me, I think this palette is awesome to play around with makeup. I do find it lasts well on my oily eyelids as long as I put a primer before. As I mentioned above, I found the lighter, cream-coloured shades to be less pigmented and can look chalky. However, the darker shades are pigmented and feels better quality. I don’t regret picking up these two palettes.
I got mine from the Big Bucket Deals that go around NZ every few months. I think they were around $12-15 so it’s more budget-friendly than the Urban Decay palettes. I’m glad I have these two in my collection.
Have you tried these palettes? If so, which shade is your favourite?
