This is an incredibly late post but over a month ago, I went to The Glass Goose for the first time for #cocktailclub. The amazing NZbloggers group and Zomato teamed up for an awesome night. I met other NZ bloggers and we made cocktails together. It was a fun night.

I took a lot of photos that night. I was pleasantly surprised at The Glass Goose. It is not what I expected it to be inside.
It is located near the Skytower and hidden behind Gloria Jean’s cafe. It is a bar and eatery. Half of it is a nice-looking dining area and the other half is the bar with an open area at the end. It was a rainy winter night when we went so we stayed right by the bar and were kept warm under the heaters.
A portion of the bar was nicely set up for us. I honestly rarely drink but when I do if I can’t taste any alcohol in the drink. I was quite excited to make cocktails but I was hoping that they didn’t have a strong alcoholic taste. I also went for the whole experience and meeting other bloggers.
We were taught two different cocktails and we were split into groups. The bartender was highly entertaining and he made sure we were able to follow his instructions. He made it look easy.
The first group made a cocktail called Beekeepers Blossom.
Beekeepers Blossom had aperol, gin, manuka honey, lemon, egg white and aromatic bitters. I didn’t expect a cocktail to have egg whites though.
Then it was my group’s turn to make one.
We made Fresh Pickings. This had Cachaca rum, fresh strawberries, lime and cucumber. It tasted really refreshing and I was surprised I couldn’t taste that much alcohol.
We basically put the strawberries and cucumber in the glass and crushed it then we added some rum and shook the glass with ice. The hardest part was shaking the glass as I was scared it would slip and spill everywhere. It was a really good cocktail and it was fun to make.
Besides cocktails, we also got to try some of the food The Glass Goose offers.
We had a few things from the Bites and Sides menu.
This is the white anchovy, smoked tomato and toast.
Potato cod croquette. This was really nice.
Crumbed pork belly and pancetta. This was also nice but I found some of the pancetta was overcooked and hard so it fell off when I took a bite.
We also got to try the sliders (my fave), duck fat potato skins and lamb cutlets. All the food tasted great and worked well with our cocktails. I was impressed with the food we had.
I’m keen to go back to try more food and because the decor and the vibe is great. It will be great to chill and have a few drinks on the open roof area looking up to a good view of Auckland’s Skytower. Their menu is great for sharing and I know I approve of the cocktails. I’ll definitely be back.
If you don’t have plans this Friday night, you can enjoy the start of the weekend at The Glass Goose. You probably won’t regret it.

It really was fun! I’d gladly do it again. I would rather not drink alcohol than drink something that has that taste. I’m the same that I could only really handle good cocktails and cider. I dislike wine and beer! Haha
