Love Pink

I have always been a girly girl and pink has been my favourite colour for as long as I can remember. I don’t have a lot of pink clothing but I have an abundance of the colour in other forms. I’ve always been attracted to it and it’s a happy colour for me.

I thought I’d share with you my current favourite pink items in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness. If you didn’t know, October is Breast Cancer Month so there are a lot of fundraising and pink-themed events going on to help raise awareness and money to breast cancer through the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation.

Let’s start off with the bigger items.

I have a few pink perfumes but my favourite is the Marc Jacobs Oh Lola! I have it in full size and in the cute mini version too. It smells fresh and floral.

I’ve also added the two rings with pink stones. From memory, I got the left one (heart-shaped ring) from The Warehouse and the other round one is from Melbourne.

I have MAC lipstick in Pleasure Bomb which is from the Riri hearts MAC limited edition collection. The middle is Topshop Lips in All About Me. This is my absolute favourite. It’s so bright but still wearable. The last one on the right is Maybelline Vivids lipstick in Vivid Rose.

I’ve swatched them in different blog posts before:

Moving on to nails, these two were my top picks.

pink essie revlon nail polishI recently got the Essie nail polish in Fiesta and it’s currently on my nails. I love it and it’s a great match to the MAC Pleasure Bomb lipstick above. The other is a slightly different pink shade and it’s the Revlon Colorstay Longwear nail enamel in Vintage Rose. The Revlon polish is a more muted pink but it’s still a great shade.

As you’d see in each photo, I included the pink ribbon which is the logo for the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation. I got one when my sister and I donated during the street appeal. You’d see people with buckets around town.

We also got this little pamphlet on the basics on how to reduce our risk of breast cancer.

B – be breast aware. Know your family history and get to know your boobs well.
R – reduce your risk by less alcohol, exercise and maintaining a healthy weight.
A – act on usual breast changes and go to the doctor.
S – screening mammogram for those over 40 years of age.

Basically, if you notice a lump, changes to the nipples, shape or any discharge then go see your doctor. It is saddening to know how many people diagnosed and are affected by breast cancer in one way or another. If you donate to the NZBCF, the money goes to research, education and support.

There are many ways to donate. We did it through the street appeal but I also texted PINK to 4644 to donate $3. Every bit counts.

This isn’t sponsored by NZBCF at all but I wanted to highlight this issue and incorporate it in my blog. My work also gets involved. Last year, my workmate dyed his hair pink and wore a tutu for the whole day which was quite impressive. This year, I’m planning on helping out through our morning tea fundraising by baking some cupcakes too. Every bit counts so get if you can get involved, please do because it’s for a good cause.

My finished cupcakes! They’re banana honey cupcakes with some cream cheese icing and topped with heart sprinkles. Our kitchen and floor has a lot of sprinkles after this but it was all worth it.

I hope you didn’t mind that this post went slightly off-topic in the end but I thought it was a good way of spreading the word whilst sharing my favourite products. I hope you’ve had a fabulous week and cheers to the weekend!
