I’m back with another outfit post and today is featuring my other clothing purchase from the NZ Fashion Week Designer Pop-up sale. This dress is from x-plain.
It’s a simple outfit but you can’t go wrong with a little black dress!
I’ve always loved lace which is why I picked this up from rack in the first place. I don’t think lace would go out of style. So this to me is pretty timeless.
I have a lot of black dresses in my closet already but what I love about this dress is the length. I don’t have a dress of this length and thankfully it doesn’t make me look frumpy and shorter than I already am.
I also love that the lining underneath is shorter so you can see through the lace at the bottom. It makes this dress a bit sexier. I paired it with these Kmart red heels for a pop of colour.
You can sort of see the shorter lining underneath in this photo. It’s not that short either that you can see a lot of leg but it shows just enough. This dress was definitely a steal. It was originally priced at $380 but I got it for $40! The quality is good and this dress has some weight too.
To accentuate the waist, I added this Karen Walker Captains Belt (I posted the brown/rose gold version of this) which I love. This is my perfect waist belt and it goes with so many outfits because it’s plain. As you can see, the dress had added texture because of the lace fabric.
For accessories, I have the Karen Walker Critter Cuff and some gold rings. This was an awkward pose but I couldn’t think of another way of showing my jewellery. I could add a necklace too but I didn’t want to over-accessorise and wanted to keep it simple.
Lastly, I opted for red lipstick to go with the red heels. I’m wearing Rimmel Apocalips in Across the Universe.
I think having my hair up was also a good idea for this dress because I already have dark hair. An up-do would look great in this outfit too but I’m pretty useless at styling my hair besides having it down, up in a ponytail or in a bun.
Anyway, that’s all I have for today. I hope you liked this outfit! It’s the time of Christmas parties and this dress is one of my choices. Let me know what you think down below.
