I went to a 21st birthday party a few weekends ago and this is what I wore. I’m glad the weather is getting warmer which means I can bring out the playsuits/rompers in my closet.

I got this playsuit from Lana Boutique at the start of this year as a treat to myself for my birthday. You may know that I don’t like spending a lot of money on clothes. I’m a cheap shopper and love opshopping for bargain finds. However, I do have an occasional splurge and this was one of them.
The playsuit is from the brand Three of Something which is an Australian brand. I’ve never really heard of the brand before getting this playsuit but I do love their clothes on the website.
I got this playsuit on sale at the Lana Boutique outlet in Takapuna. I tried it on and it fit well and I love the colours. It’s not usually me to spend more than $50 on one item of clothing but it was on sale from over $150 down to $90 (from memory). I thought it was a pretty good buy.
What also sold me on this playsuit/romper thing is the back detail. I like clothing with open backs. I’d rather have everything covered but have the back all open. I think it’s sexy without really revealing a lot.
I’ve paired the playsuit with my white Kmart heels. I kept the jewellery simple too. I liked the whole outfit and it was easy to pair it with the white heels because it has white diagonal lines in the playsuit.
The front of it looks simple but the back has the details. I do like the pleats on the bottom/shorts part too.
As for the open back, it has a band in the middle so it doesn’t completely open up and there’s a string that creates a Y. I love this.
I think this playsuit can be dressed up and down which how I like most of my clothes. When I wore this for the first time, we went to Waiheke Island and I just paired it with sandals and a hat.
As for makeup, I chose a purple lipstick to match the colours of the playsuit. I could get away with a pink and orange tone lipstick too because of the print but I told purple was the best match. I have Revlon Colorstay Wild Orchid on my lips which is one of my favourite lipstick shades in my collection.
My sunglasses is from Farmers which I’ve worn a a few times in my outfit photos. I like it because it’s like Celine.
On the night of the 21st, this was my makeup:
I still have Revlon Wild Orchid on but I had the Australis Velourlips in Shang-Hi! underneath and my lipstick lasted all night.
As it’s now summer here in NZ, I can now bring out more of my playsuits/rompers. This Lana Boutique one is definitely my favourite and I can’t wait to wear it more.
I hope you liked this outfit post. Let me know what you think of this whole look down below.

The back detail is very cool. I never really thought I liked busy prints, but then suddenly I look at my wardrobe and I own lots of prints. I’m wearing a busy print today. I guess the graphic designer in me is drawn to them…

Thank you! I hope you find a similar pair. It’s hard to find white heels so I got lucky with this one from Kmart.

I’ve never seen a back detail like that- it’s awesome! And the playsuit looks great on you. I definitely agree with your comment above- it’s such a save when it’s windy! Ps. You do so well with Kmart and shoes.

Thanks Lennie! One of the reasons I fell in love with this playsuit is because of the back. It’s definitely handy in the windy days. I’ve been really lucky recently with kmart heels. Last time I went, the shelves were almost wiped out of the good ones though.

It’s so cute! I am a bit self-conscious of my back as I was once told it was shocking (from my sister haha) and I’ve never quite gotten over it… Kmart is great, I need my fix!! I haven’t worn proper heel in a while though, maybe 1 inch max? Do you wear heels to work?

Oh no! I hope your sister was only joking though!
Is your nearest Kmart St Lukes?
I wear flats to work but I always have a pair of heels under my desk. I have worn my heeled boots to work during winter but lately it’s just been flats. I did buy heeled sandals too (Wednesday’s post) and I plan on wearing them to work too.

That’s a really cute romper. The only thing I don’t like about them is going to the bathroom is hard work! haha. I really like the shoes too, I think I might sneak to KMart and check it out…

Thank you! I know right. I love rompers/playsuits but going to the bathroom can be a struggle! This one isn’t as difficult as others I have though. Definitely check out Kmart! I’ve bought a few pairs of shoes there recently. They’re so good and cheap!

Wow Lana Boutique have such cute stuff! I’m not sure I am brave enough to give the playsuit/romper thing a try but it’s such a cool look on you, can be dressed up for an occasion such as a 21st and is perfect for the current weather!

Thank you! I think you should give it a go. Try on a few rompers in store and see how you feel. I love them and have a few others. I like it in summer because if it becomes windy, I won’t flash anyone if there’s a gust of wind. Haha.
