It’s been a while since I did an empties post and while I was cleaning my room, I found the paper bag I was storing all my used-up beauty products. It’s the new year and it’s time I throw these away.
I have a mixture of skincare, body care and haircare products so if you want to know if I recommend repurchasing any of these, click below.
I have a lot of products to talk about so I’ve split this into different categories.
I have two Skinfood products which is the Mud Masque and Exfoliating Scrub. I go the exfoliating scrub from the March Beauty Box and I’ve been using it since. It’s nice and similar to a St Ives scrub.
As for the mud masque, I wasn’t too impressed. Everyone loves the masque and I think it’s been hyped up a lot that I had high expectations. I’d rather use the Queen Helene Mint Julep mask which I’ve repurchased a few times already.
The Clinique 7 day Scrub Cream was from sometime ago. I haven’t fully finished it but it’s quite old that it’s time to chuck it in the bin. I did like using it but I don’t think I’d repurchase because it’s not that cheap for what it is. I can find other better face scrubs for a lower price.
As for haircare, I used up the Toni & Guy sea salt texturising spray and the Aubrey Sea Buckthorn curl activator.
I was glad I received the Toni & Guy sea salt spray during NZ Fashion Week to try out because I loved it. It smells amazing and it really helped my hair especially as I wore it wavy almost every single day.
I got the curl activator from iHerb. This was okay. I used it all up just because I didn’t want to waste up but I won’t be repurchasing it.
I have three e.l.f. cosmetics products but here but only one I’ve fully used up. I bought these from Kmart and iHerb too.
The e.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set was the only one I finished and it’s ok. It’s not the best and I didn’t expect it would be either. I liked the Lip Exfoliator a lot because it’s in a lipstick form instead of a lip scrub in a pot. However, I didn’t manage to finish it and it turned hard and smelled weird. I’ve had it for quite a while too.
As for the High Definition Undereye Setting Powder, I actually still have the product but I put it in a different pot as mine broke. I really like using it and it’s the one I’ll repurchase out of all these three products.
For body care, I have three different deodorants. I still haven’t found the perfect one for me so I’ve tried different brands and types. I got the Rexona Clinical Protection from the March Beauty Box. I used it up and I like the scent and how it keeps sweat and odour at bay. However, I found that cream-type deodorants builds up on my skin even though I shower and scrub my armpits. I had to switch to roll-ons.
I didn’t mind the Mitchum roll-on deodorant but I didn’t like the strong scent of the Thursday Plantation deodorant. I like tea tree but this was too strong of a scent for me.
Here are some random bits and pieces which are mostly sample-size products that I’ve used up too:
I’ve used up another Vaseline Lip Therapy balm. This was also in my last Beauty Empties post so clearly I love this product. The Aromatherapy Co Hand Cream was a set of three and this wild rose and vetiver scent was the first one I’ve finished. I really liked the hand cream and I’m glad I have two others.
The minis I have finished are these two Clinique skincare products: Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief and Repairwear Laser Focus wrinkle correcting eye cream. I loved Moisture Surge because it really hydrates the skin. I got my sister a big tub of it as she loved it too. I had two small tubs of it because of Clinique Bonus and this one dried up and changed colour already.
As for the Clinique eye cream, I don’t really know how good it is since I can’t see immediate results but I used it anyway.
The Benefit It’s Potent! eye cream was from the 2014 Benefit Advent Calendar. Like most eye creams I’ve tried, I don’t really know how effective it is but this eye cream was nice and smelled really good.
Lastly, I have the Dior Capture Total Eyes Essential eye zone boosting serum. I got this from the Big Bucket Deals and it’s a really small size. I did like it but I don’t want to know how much the full-sized bottle is.
Before I finish this post, here’s an outtake that I couldn’t resist not showing.
If you follow me on Instagram (astylecollector) or have liked my Facebook page, you would know that I recently got a little kitten called Turbo. Taking flatlays on the floor would be interesting now but he’s too cute for me to angry with. I’m pretty sure this won’t be the last time he’ll appear on the blog too.
If you’ve tried any of the products I’ve mentioned above, let me know if you liked or will repurchase them. These were my last ones for 2015 and it should be a couple of months until I save up enough for my next update.
