2015 was the year when I tried a lot of beauty products. I started my blog, got more active on Beauty Review, bought beauty boxes and I was more curious to try more brands.
This post is the big compilation of all the products I loved the past year.
I have quite a few to show you so I’ll get on to it.
My favourite foundation is the Maybelline Fit Me! Matte +Poreless foundation. It’s the one I reach for the most since getting it.
The Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum is a runner-up because it’s what I’ve used almost every day for work. I like a lighter coverage foundation when I go to work and this was great because it doesn’t feel like I have anything on. It’s light and feels good on the skin.
For concealer, Maybelline wins again with the Instant Age Rewind. It’s great for under the eyes as it brightens and conceals well.
For CC cream, I need to make a special mention to the Essence CC cream because I love it so much.
I am sadly out of this product now and every time I check out the Essence stand in Farmers, it’s sold out. I need to get this back in my life.
For blush, the Essence Blush Up! in heat wave has been my go-to especially when spring/summer started.
The Topshop bronzer in Mohawk is the only bronzer I’ve religiously used the past year. I always go back to it because the colour suits me well and I just love it.
I’ve tried a few face powders last year but the stand out has been the Australis Fresh & Flawless pressed powder. It’s good for setting foundation and it has a mirror so it’s also good to put in your bag or travel with.
For highlight, this mini Benefit Watt’s Up! has been my favourite for months. It’s in a lipstick/tube form which makes it easier to apply on my face and it just gives a great glow. I got this mini one from the 2014 Benefit Advent Calendar.
A runner-up is the Topshop Glow highlighter in gleam. The shade is close to Watt’s Up! but this is in a pot form. I like applying this all over the lids too.
Hands down, my favourite eyeliner is the Za liquid eyeliner. I thank the Beauty Review team for including it in the March Beauty Box because I wouldn’t have discovered it then. This eyeliner is the reason why I’ve enjoyed wearing eyeliner and I’ve got the cat-eye flick almost down pat.
For mascara, I’ve tried a bunch last year but the Maxfactor Masterpiece Transform is what I’ve loved the longest. I didn’t like it at the start but I kept trying and eventually I loved it as I learned how to apply it well. I won this as a prize from Laura’s (lauralaurablog) blog giveaway.
If you’ve seen my Battle of the Brows post, you’d know that I have a lot of eyebrow products. The one brow product I can’t live without now is the L’oreal Brow Stylist Plumper. I use this every time either by itself or to set my brows. I already a backup of this.
My Shu Uemura eyelash curler has been a staple makeup tool of mine for 2+ years now. I can’t use any other curlers because this is the best for me. Same goes for the MAC Fix+ as I haven’t tried other products that are better than it.
I chose the Australis Blemish Buster for primer as I’ve really enjoyed using this product. A close second is the L’oreal Nude Magique Blur Cream which I prefer better than the Benefit Porefessional.
I’m in need of updating my skincare routine because I’ve had pesky breakouts the past few months. I went back to the Clinique dramatically different moisturising gel because I know this one works on my oily/acne prone skin. I’m almost out of it too which makes me sad.
As for lip balm, I can’t live without the Vaseline Lip Therapy. I’ve mentioned it in so many blog posts but it is truly the one one that helps my lips.
I also cannot live without the Queen Helene Mint Julep face mask which I’ve mentioned in a few blog posts. It is amazing and I haven’t tried other masks that I like better.
For haircare, Batiste is my #1 dry shampoo of choice. The Urban Fudge sea salt spray is also pretty good and smells nice.
Now, for lip products… It was hard for me to choose just one so I cheated and picked my top shades.
I give special mention to the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in sultry. It is my absolute favourite lip product in this form. I gravitate towards this a lot and I wear it just by itself or underneath lipstick.
My top four lipsticks are:
- Topshop Lips in All About Me – this is my go-to bright pink shade.
- MAC lipstick in Craving – The nude lipstick for me.
- Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 111 Kiss of Life. This matte formula lasts a lot longer on my lips than other red lipsticks so I love it.
- Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Wild Orchid. The pearl finish of this lipstick is what makes it amazing. This is my favourite Revlon lippy.
These two were close runner-ups. The Riri hearts MAC lipstick in Pleasure Bomb is such a great pink shade and the packaging is beautiful.
My YSL Rouge Volupte lipstick in 17 will always have a place too because it was my first high-end lipstick. I’ve been eyeing up a nude shade so I can have another one in this gorgeous packaging.
Did any of my beauty favourites in yours too? Let me know what your list have as I love knowing other people’s top makeup and beauty products.

I love posts like this as it gives me good pointers on what brands might be good. Perfect for a make up novice like me. I’m pretty keen to try that Benefit Watt’s Up! I haven’t used a product like that before.

It’s a great highlighter and it’s handy to have the mini version of it too. The full size is a bit pricey but I truly love it as a highlighter. I find it easier to apply because of the packaging/tube form. 🙂

I have to say that essence blush is freaking gorgeous! I love it! There were so many products that I loved in 2015, I have no idea how you managed to narrow it down lol 🙂 Great post XX

It is beautiful and so inexpensive as well. I could imagine you’d find it so difficult. I don’t have too many beauty products compared to most bloggers and even if I have a lot, I end up using the same favourites of mine which are all in this post. 🙂 Thank you!

oooo those lipsticks look purdy. I need to learn how to wear lipstick without looking like I’m playing dressup 🙂

Just keep practicing! 🙂 I used to hate wearing lipstick and thought red lipstick looked silly on me but one day I changed my mind completely.

Have you tried the Urban Decay fixer at all? I had MAC fix+ and now I have the Urban Decay, I can’t decide which one I like better.

No I haven’t. I actually haven’t tried any Urban Decay products as they’re not easy to get here. I heard we can get it at the airport now so I’ll keep that in mind. 🙂

Oh really I hadn’t realised, it’s great you can get it at the airport. I find the urban decay one seems to feel like it’s done more in terms of setting it on my skin…hard to explain.

I absolutely love the Max Factor Masterpiece mascara! It made my lashes super long, but I ran out ages ago and have yet to gone back to the store to repurchase it! Also I bought the Revlon matte balm in sultry a few days ago and I’m already in love!!!!!

It’s great that the mascara worked well on you too! I’ve heard mixed reviews on it but once I knew how to apply it well, it’s great. Sultry is such a nice shade and it smells good too. 🙂

I used to have the original Fit Me foundation too and I did like that one but since I have oily skin I much prefer the matte and poreless. I hope they stock it where you are soon. 🙂

I don’t think I could even begin to pick favourites! NARS Albatross highlighter is probably one of them, that comes to mind straight away.

It was really hard. I cheated a bit with my special mentions/runner ups. I just couldn’t pick just one. Haha
I’ve heard NARS Albatross is great. I’ll check it out if it’s in Mecca Cosmetica when I visit next. 🙂
