Marua Road Cafe Ellerslie

Marua Road Cafe

This month’s NZBloggers brunchclub location was at Marua Road Cafe in the weekend. It was a gloomy rainy day but I’m glad I went because we had a good group of ladies and great discussions.

I’ve never been in this cafe before as I don’t really venture out for brunch beyond the shore if it’s not for the monthly brunchclub. Marua Road Cafe is this cute but fairly small cafe nestled in a commercial area. There were only a few tables and out group had the biggest one at the back.

The menu is good with some classic breakfast dishes but also different ones like the Burmese spiced lamb curry, carrot cake pancakes and you have 5 choices for eggs benedict.

Marua Road Cafe Steak Sandwich.jpg

I probably got the least photogenic one but I had the Steak Sandwich ($20). It has a scotch fillet, caramelised onion, basil pesto, toasted pide, fries and aioli. Mine may not have been pretty but it was yum. I have my steak medium and it was cooked just how I liked it and this was tasty. I enjoyed it.

Marua Road Cafe Omelette.jpg

Lena got the Spanish Omelette ($17) which looked nice with chorizo, potato hash, rocket, caramelised onion and tomato kasundi.

I don’t like avocado so this isn’t something I’ll ever order but this was Alex’s the Smashed Pea & Avo ($17) with toasted multigrain, poached egg, feta and rosti.

Laura was right beside me and when she got this, I got jealous! This is the Southern Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict ($18). The chicken looked so good and Laura said it was too.

The cutest part of our brunch was our coffees.

Marua Road Cafe did different coffee art and they were adorable.

I wish I was able to take photos of the interior but it was so busy! People were standing inside waiting for a table so I think this cafe is one of the best in the area by how packed it was.

NZ Bloggers brunch

Even though the cafe was packed, we were able to get a photo of all of us together. I’ve been to a lot of brunchclubs but we never get a chance to have a group photo. Thankfully, Nishu’s hubby is a well-trained insta-husband and snapped this photo of us.

Here are all the other bloggers who went:

I also love this selfie I took with Laura.

Overall, even though the weather was crap, I had a really good time. Lena had topics for us to discuss about blogging and everyone opened up and shared why we started blogging and our highlights. I really love being part of this group. I’ve met so many good people from blogging and have made friends through it too. It’s amazing.
