Last weekend was the monthly NZbloggers brunchclub and it was held at Ampersand Eatery. I thought I was going to miss out on this but I’m so glad I was able to make it. If you haven’t been here before or you’re after another brunch place in Auckland, check out my post below.
Ampersand Eatery is located in Orakei Village. I’ve never been before but I’ve heard good things about this place because Lena of Lena Talks lives close by and we walked to the village to have a wander.
I was surprised by how spacious this restaurant is inside and it’s very ‘grammable. I love this blush pink bench.
This was taken from where I was sitting. Our group was sat in the outdoor area which is still covered and warm because of the heaters.
As for the food:
I got the cheeseburger ($22) which includes the house fries. The fries were pretty good and not soggy. The cheeseburger itself was also good and filling. Apparently they make the cheese in-house. The buns were also pretty good. I’m getting really predictable with my brunch choices because I either get the burger or fish & chips as I rarely order eggs for brunch.
This was Lena’s order which was the Braised Greens ($10) which has poached egg, corn bread and smoked feta.
Georgie of Georgieats got the Smashed Avocado ($17) which has poached egg, seven spice, kimchi on house sourdough.
Evo from Island Blogger got the Eggs on Sourdough (I think) ($18).
I don’t have another nice photo with my coffee but I got a flat white and their coffee is also nice. Lena got the cold brew which came in a nice wood tray and bottle.
Before we left, the team at Ampersand Eatery kindly gave us a smaller serving of their chia pudding. This was a nice end to our meal so thank you Ampersand Eatery! I would never order a chia pudding for brunch because I like savoury stuff but it’s good to have a taste of what’s it like.
Overall, I really enjoyed brunch at this place. The outdoor area has a great view of the water so on a nice sunny day, this would be the place to be.
If you want to know what it’s like to be with a bunch of bloggers for brunch, the above is a little snippet. I love going to the NZbloggers brunch because it’s completely acceptable to take a bunch of photos before you dig in. No one will judge you as everyone is doing the same thing.
I also wore my new Brunch Baby t-shirt from Cotton On which was the perfect tee to wear that day:
