My last post was about the Matakana Village Farmers Market and I said in that post that I’ll share about the place we went for brunch which was the Matakana Market Kitchen.
This place is underneath the Matakana cinemas. We chose this place because it was the closest to the market and we were lucky we managed to get a table as it was a busy morning.
Inside was quite spacious and there’s a nice outdoor eating area too overlooking the river. We were seated close to the fireplace which was on and kept us warm.
We already had coffees so I got some juice and mum got the Kombucha Iced Tea.
Their menu is quite large so it took us a while to decide what to eat. My parents shared these two:
This is The Market Grill. Every cafe has a big breakfast and this is their version. It was definitely big in size and my parents liked it.
They also had the Sticky Pork Ribs. My dad really enjoyed this and they were good. The meat was soft and fell off the bone and the sauce was nice.
I had the Steak & Eggs. It came with a huge potato stack at the bottom that I couldn’t finish but the steak was good and cooked just how I liked it. The fried eggs were also just how I liked it. I like it when the edges are crispy but the yolk is still runny enough.
My sister had the Brunch Salad. It came in this big plate and it looked good. She said she enjoyed it to but it was a bit too earthy due to the mushrooms.
They seem to have a good selection of wines too and baked goods by the til. The food was great and overall, we had a great time. The only thing was their eftpos machine was down and since we used up our cash at the markets, it took us a while to leave the place.
The wait did give me time to take more photos though. I liked their decor and this funny sign too.
