Today marks 5 months since I launched my blog. Time has has gone by so quickly and I have enjoyed the last few months. If I didn’t start A Style Collector, I wouldn’t have met awesome bloggers and probably wouldn’t have the opportunity to go to NZ Fashion Week this year.
If you didn’t know, I’m doing the NZFW Backstage Blog with a bunch of other bloggers thanks to We Are Anthology. Yesterday was my first day going to it although NZFW officially kicked off on Monday night.
I’ve taken a lot of photos and I have so much to edit but I have a few snaps of the venue for you today. It’s a sneak of some of the things you can see during NZ fashion week.
Mercedes-Benz is one of the major sponsors of NZFW and when you enter the Viaduct Events Centre, you will see this beautiful fresh flower wall. It smells good up close too!
There are two main places for the shows: The Runway and The Tent. The bigger shows are in The Runway because it seats a lot more people.
Before you get through the entrance of The Runway, you’ll see the NZFW Exhibition. This exhibition showcases a few designer pieces.
I have a few photos below.
The designers featured in the showcase are: Andrea Moore, ConfiTEX, Eithne Curran, Gally Nine, Hailwood, Jasmin Sparrow, Julian Danger, Marama Jewellery, Michael John Jewellery, NZ Weddings Jewellery, Perky Shoes, TOMS, TOUS. Willa & Mae, X-Plain, 12 Glamour Eyewear.
I have watched a few shows and I will post them individually but what I’m doing at NZFW is interviewing the head hair and makeup stylists as well as the designers before the show. It has been a bit hectic as expected but it’s been good knowing what goes on behind the scenes.
Here’s a snap I took with Nicola (@nervingx) today while waiting for the Sovereign Presents NZFW Fashion Lunch that sadly we weren’t invited to. The lunch looked fancy schmancy but was strictly corporate.
One major thing about NZFW is the feeling of exclusivity. Although I love fashion, I don’t think I’m cut out for the fashion industry. I feel so out of place! Haha
Anyway, stay tuned for my other NZFW posts which are about the designers.

We had to! It was daunting at first as I felt like I was interrupting them at work but everyone I’ve talked to were nice about it. They obviously know it was going to happen and we’re not the only one asking backstage too. It was so interesting but hectic. I’m exhausted from doing 3 days of it. Haha.
If you want to do it next year, give We Are Anthology a buzz a few months before fashion week if they’re doing it again. We needed more people as some backed out in the end. 🙂

So glad you got to experience NZFW! I decided not to go to as a delegate this year (because I’ve been ill) and only went to a friend’s show this year – I have such mad FOMO! Can’t wait to hear more about your experiences xx

I hope you’re feeling well. Which show did you go to? Finally experienced the craziness of NZFW whilst it was fun, it was so hectic. I only did 3 days (was meant to go today but I won’t be) and I am exhausted and sick. I loved the experience and it’s good to know what it’s like both behind the scenes and runway. 🙂
