auckland domain ootd cherry blossoms

Auckland Domain

A few weeks ago I met up with a friend at Auckland Domain and we explored the area. I haven’t been back here in a long time but I love this place.

Auckland Domain is Auckland’s oldest park at 75 hectares. It is a huge place and was formed around a cone of an extinct volcano. What I love about this place is there are lots to do and see. There is the Auckland War Memorial Museum, Wintergardens, walkways and just a great green open space area near the city. Parking is free for up to 3 hours too and that’s hard to find in Auckland now.

This day, we explored the domain and specifically wanted to see the Cherry Blossom trees. We actually got lost the first time but we found it eventually as you’d see in the photo above.

devonport auckland esplanade hotel

Devonport, Auckland

One of my favourite places in the North Shore is Devonport. It has great old buildings, it’s close to the water and you can go up to two volcanic cones to see a different view of Auckland.

This quaint little town has so much character. I love going here for a stroll on a good day. Luckily, I live quite close to Devonport so one Sunday, we woke up early and had brunch in one of the cafes along the main road then we went for a walk around town.

Click below for a few photos I took during this sunny winter day.

Desserts at Milse

Milse in Britomart has to be one of my favourite places in the city. It is my happy place because I have a major sweet tooth and love desserts.

I have been here too many times to count and I’m not embarrassed to say I have tried so many things they offer. What’s great about Milse is that they switch the ingredients around.

Last Saturday, my sister and I took my mum here as she’s never been. We were lucky to get a table.

See below for all the treats. If you’ve never been to Milse, I highly recommend it!

Food: Federal Delicatessen

If you live in Auckland and haven’t heard of this place, you may want to check it out. Federal Delicatessen is in front of SkyCity and besides another famous food place, Depot Eatery.

I’ve been here a couple of times and the last was for a late lunch with my sister after we watched the Aloha movie in Gold Class. Thanks BloggersClub!

See below for more photos of this food place and of course, the lovely food.

Matariki Festival: Stellar

I found about this event today and I’m glad I decided to check it out. If you are interested in seeing some pretty light installations, head over to the North Shore because Stellar is on.

Stellar: Bright Ideas is for the Matariki Festival and it runs until Sunday night. There are seven light installations celebrating the arrival of Matariki (Seven Sisters) constellation in the winter night sky.

Coocup auckland restaurant food

Food: CooCup

On the day we watched Singin’ in the Rain, my sister and I met up in town and needed lunch. She recommended this place CooCup. It is a little food place across the Auckland Library and Auckland Art Gallery. I wouldn’t have known it if she hasn’t told me.

This place is super affordable and has great interior. I think this is perfect for uni students and I wish this was open when I was at studying at university as it is close by.
