I think I have mentioned it a few times on my blog that I love Karen Walker and that she is my favourite NZ designer. I’ve followed the collections over the years and I absolutely love the accessories and jewellery.
The new collection called Time Machine came out recently and this Captain’s belt is part of it. I already have this belt in two other colours but this one is quite special because I bought it the same day I met Karen Walker herself.
I’ve talked about meeting her and showing more details about my new Karen Walker purchase below.
I’ll start off with the belt.
As I mentioned above, this is the Captain’s belt from the latest Time Machine collection. You can get this belt in three different colours: bronze, graphite and sapphire. I got it in bronze because I don’t have a brown belt. I do have this same style belt in cream and black already but they all have gold hardware.
What drew me in to this belt was the rose gold hardware. I’ve been collecting more rose gold jewellery and since my other belts have either gold or silver hardware, it’s good to have one that matches.
The finish of the belt is also shinier than my other captains belts. It has a nice sheen to it and it has this grainy texture. It’s something different which I love.
One thing I loved more was I got to meet Karen Walker at The Department Store that day. I never thought I’d meet her in person but I did. She was in the store for an hour and since I live close, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
I asked her about her Time Machine collection and inspiration behind that. I also managed to get a few details of the next homewares collection which I’m really excited about. I got her plates last year and we actually use it every day.
We took a few photos. The ones above were taken by the lovely Nicole of nicrific. I was just wearing casual clothes but also a lot of Karen Walker jewellery that day and I felt slightly embarrassed at how much I looked like a fangirl. She said it was great though. I was wearing her sunglasses, necklace and multiple rings. Thinking about it now, I would be so happy if I see someone wearing a lot of my designs and it shows that they love it.
Karen Walker was nice. She was also very tall and beautiful. She barely had any makeup on and she didn’t rush anyone that wanted to chat with her.
I apologise for my face in those photos. I know that I need to smile with my teeth more so I will look a lot happier but I highly dislike showing my teeth. I’ll get there one day but most of my photos with people are close-mouthed even if I’m really ecstatic inside. I had braces when I was younger and I never smiled showing my teeth. I rarely do and I don’t like it.
Anyway, I digress. If you haven’t seen the Time Machine collection, here are my top picks:

- Elemental Dress – Sapphire Floral Crepe De Chine
- Havilland Skirt – Prisms Jacquard
- Lords Dress – Sapphire Floral Crepe De Chine

- Space Time Pull-Ons – Universe Viscose Voile
- Lightyear Dress – Runaway Denim
I’m pretty sure this won’t be the last Karen Walker post you’ll see on my blog. I’m already eyeing my next purchase but I’ll show you that once I’ve decided.
I hope you’ve had a great week and enjoy the upcoming weekend.

What a lovely belt! Such a unique clasp detail too ❤
The elemental dress is super pretty! If I didn't have my wardrobe for Fiji lined up already, it would be perfect! /cry
